I have been involved with Compeer for nearly two years and have been matched with a very compatible volunteer. We have formed a close friendship and we get together twice a week for lunch and coffee or a movie. We also attend the computer group every Thursday at at the library to talk over computer topics. We are both interested in computers, so attending this group gives us another activity to do together. We also both attend the monthly book group meeting at the Bookshelf on the third Tuesday of every month to discuss a book which is about a mental health issue. The two of us get along really well and enjoy each other’s company a lot. We have a lot of fun having lunch and coffee and watching movies together. I’m really glad Rebecca and I are friends and that I joined Compeer. My friendship with her, and with Michelle, the program coordinator, really enriches my social life and makes me very happy. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone with mental illness who is lonely. It sure has vastly improved my social life and has gotten me out of the house and into doing fun things with good people.

Compeer is a wonderful organization that has changed my life.  I have been matched with a wonderful friend for two years now.  We meet once a week for lunch, coffee or a movie.  My friend Lori is such a special person and I am so glad that we have met.

I take part in other Compeer activities as well.  I go to the Computer Literacy group every Thursday.  I also go to the Mental Health book group once a month.  Participating in Compeer activities is so important to my well-being.  It keeps me out of the house and gives me constructive things to do with my time.
